President Eddinger Responds to Success Boston Report at Boston Foundation Panel Discussion

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) President Pam Eddinger joined the Boston Private Industry Council and the Success Boston college completion initiative at the Boston Foundation for the release of “Staying the Course: Six-Year College and Completion Experiences,” a new report that addresses college enrollment and completion for Boston Public Schools’ Class of 2011 graduates.
The report finds the number of BPS graduates attending and completing college within six years has nearly doubled in the past decade, demonstrating the impact of coaching and advising on student success.
Speaking on BHCC’s accelerated approach to college placement and developmental education, President Eddinger said in a Boston Globe article highlighting the findings of the report: “If given the right conditions, all students can achieve.”

Report findings were presented by Boston Private Industry Council (PIC) representatives Joseph McLaughlin, Research & Evaluation Director, and Anika Van Eaton, Senior Research Analyst. The panel was moderated by Elizabeth Pauley, Associate Vice President, Education to Career, The Boston Foundation. Participants included President Eddinger; Turahn Dorsey, Chief of Education, City of Boston; Paul S. Grogan, President & CEO, The Boston Foundation; Barry Mills, Interim Chancellor, UMass Boston; and Kenneth C. Montgomery, First Vice President & Chief Operation Officer, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
