BHCC Kicks Off the Academic Year at Convocation 2017

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) faculty and staff gathered at the College on Thursday, August 31, 2017, to celebrate Convocation 2017, an annual tradition that kicks off the academic year for the College. There they enjoyed breakfast on the Main Plaza and reconnected with their colleagues before heading to the A300 Auditorium for the morning program.

Emmy award-winning journalist Maria Hinojosa spoke on September 21, 2017, as part of the College’s Fall Speaker Series focusing on immigration and religious intolerance and as a featured event of the College’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, a month-long series of events honoring the power of Latinx voices. Her presentation, “Frontlines: Latinos & Immigration,” addressed critical issues facing Latinx in the changing cultural and political landscape of America.

President Eddinger Shares the Power of OER at Capitol Hill

A group of congressional staffers, higher education policy makers and Open Educational Resources (OER) supporters attended a briefing led by Achieving the Dream (ATD) President and CEO Dr. Karen A. Stout, Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) President Pam Eddinger and Odessa College President Dr. Gregory Williams. The briefing was intended to share the success that both BHCC and Odessa College students have attained through taking OER courses. ATD is managing a project that will bring OER courses to 38 community colleges, a program that will save students money and keep them on track toward graduation.
